Privacy Policy

Overview

Solo is a cycling app designed with your privacy in mind. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide you with ride tracking, route planning, and performance insights. Your data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud account.

Data We Collect

Solo collects the following data, all of which is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to your personal iCloud account:

  • Location data during active rides to track your route, distance, speed, and elevation
  • Health data (heart rate, calories) when you grant Apple Health access
  • Body metrics (height, weight, sex) that you voluntarily provide to improve calorie estimates
  • Ride history, personal records, bike profiles, and saved routes
  • App preferences such as unit system and display settings

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to power the features of the app:

  • GPS location is used only during active ride tracking and route creation
  • Health metrics are used to estimate calorie burn and sync workouts to Apple Health
  • Ride history and personal records are used to display your progress and trends
  • Body metrics are used solely for more accurate calorie calculations

Data Storage

All your data is stored on-device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled, your data may sync across your devices via your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We do not operate any external servers and do not have access to your iCloud data.

Third-Party Services

Solo does not share your personal data with any third parties. The app uses the following Apple services:

  • Apple MapKit for maps and route directions
  • Apple HealthKit for health data integration
  • Apple CloudKit for optional iCloud sync
  • Apple StoreKit for subscription management

No analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs are included in the app.

Location Data

Solo requests location access to track your cycling rides and display your position on the map. Location data is collected only while you are actively using the app for ride tracking or route creation. We do not collect or store location data in the background outside of active rides. You can revoke location access at any time in your device Settings.

Apple Health Integration

If you grant access, Solo reads heart rate data from Apple Health during rides and can write completed workouts back to Apple Health. Solo also reads body metrics (weight, height, biological sex) to improve calorie estimates. Health data access is entirely optional and can be revoked at any time in your device Settings under Privacy & Security > Health.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your ride data is stored on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. You can delete individual rides, routes, or bike profiles at any time within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. To remove iCloud-synced data, you can manage your iCloud storage in your device Settings.

Children's Privacy

Solo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app with an updated date at the top of this page.
